my waterpumps on its way out

took my car to my renault dealer who told the noises are the waterpump going, the car is under warranty so i thought great its covered, to get to the waterpump they said they would have to take the cam belt off, plugs etc renault phoned me to say the warranty will pay for a new water pump and the labour for this but i got to pay £316 i have to pay for new plugs, cambelt etc because these parts are not damaged the warranty wont pay for it, renault said you cant put old belts back on e.g cambelt cause this belt will expand or something so i have to pay the labour and have all these new parts, renault warranty is **** i paid for my warranty its the one you get when you buy a brand new renault and it aint cheap either, and they did not even give me a courtesy car none available so i am car less at the moment plus it will take a whole day to do they said it just gets better.

I think u will find that if the job of replacing the water pump requires the cam belt to be changed this should be covered

I had the same problem when my pump went the best thing to do is check ure warrenty se what u r covered for i argued the toss that my car was covered for parts and labour to have the pump replaced therefore the cambelt was a part that should be changed along with the waterpump!!

maybe some advice from the CAB or trading standards

yes cheers mate i will have another go at them when i go down there and see what happens, its just so annoying especially when he said £316 id expect most of this is labour

do ure research when i did it it was not to a renault garage and i did research it ask for all the advice u can get enven on paper if u can

thats a Joke, so what if you need new parts for things that they have to remove to fix a problem! you should not have to pay 4 it. if the pump did not go in the first place u would not have to pay 4 these parts. its sounds like a renault costmer relations call mate, dont take that.

Good luck mate, i hate it when things like this happen it just not right!

yes cheers matty b they seem to be useless down there try to phone them 3 times today said they would phone me back they never did, wanted to know if they started work on it yet, im car less at the moment and need it back soon for work there warrenty is useless thought it would cover all things except for the wear and tear parts i am still going to complain if no luck might write to renault uk and the warrenty company i aint going to give up but think i am fighting a lost case. its just so annoying:mad: was hoping to buy the viper kit as well this month that will have to wait now.

cheers for all the support and comments everyone, i will let you all know how i get on?

  2012 WRX Waggon

u wanna tell them ur gonna type this incident up, then every saturday ur gonna spend an hour handing out printouts to all their potential customers.

u could also try contacting Autoexpress, or one of the other mags.

I did this with a 2 month old new Rover 214 (98) that blew its head gasket (whilst on its second engine!!!) - They agreed (eventually) to change the car, I even managed to get 50% off the cost of an upgrade to the 16v model (which needed a h/gasket after 11k!!!).

give it a try - what u got to lose?

yes good point i have been writing down everything, they think they heard the last, but believe me i have not even started yet. told friends at work they think its disgusting really i have paid twice, once for the warrenty and twice to get my car back on the road again.
