you'll be spending MANY hours trying to get used to it and getting the best from it

theyre awesome cameras when you know how to use them!

how much did it cost if you dont mind me asking?

the camera and 18-55mm lens kit was £498, but I spent over £800 in total with another lens (55mm-200mm) and some extras.

looks great! how low is that? what suspension?

just Eibach Pro Springs, 15mm f&r at time of fitting (2 years ago) but think it has dropped quite a lot since then.

LOL, I justed play with the settings and see what they do! Was more advanced than the old 35mm SLR I used at college years ago!

Mainly Shutter speed (TV) for Aperture size (AV) settings for me. Not masterd the full Manual use yet!

The pre set sports setting in the Basic zone worked well to get me started at the Rally I went to, had enough trouble just zooming and shooting in the beginning!

Rich, am I using it right? Manually adjusting the lens to each position? i.e 18, 25, 35, 55, then letting the AF do the rest? cheers.

Yeah zoom in, or move yourself to get the shot you want in the viewfinder.

Pressing the shutter halfway to let the autofocus do it's job is fine. In normal conditions the AF should do a great job. In low light you may need to manually focus.

The settings your using means the camera is sorting all the settings for you - allowing you to point and shoot.

The settings on the top dial give you the adjustability to either allow the camera to sort everything for you in the basic zone, with the presets such as sports, macro, night time etc.

To control things yourself such as shutter speed, aperture, you need to use creative zone settings, P,Tv,Av,M etc.
