I'd go for a Q6600 quad core chip if possible as they're only another £30 more than the e6600

ebuyer do the G0 stepping q6600 for £165

asrock quad core board for £40

corsair pc5400 2x 1gb ram for £43

  Punto/Clio GTT
i had the same bundle off overclockers except mine was the P5B motherboard.

looks a good spec.

you gonna be clockin the c2d?

cheers for the replies. i would probably go for the quad core actually, didnt notice that bundle deal and as you say was only about £30odd quid more.

might overclock at some point, but probably not for a while. compared to my current pc its a big upgrade.

can anyone recommend a decent case thats not £100? im fussy about how it looks, but dont really wanna pay £100 for one if poss! lol

I vote no on the E6600 bundle, you can get Q6600 (thats 4 cores) for cheap now - £160
If you dont fancy shopping around for that, they have a q6600 bundle for £30 more, however i would check one ebuyer.com for a better deal.

As for the GPU - 320MB wont be enough for gaming on a 1900* 1200 monitor. I'd suggest the 640MB version, or if your budget it tight, buy a temp card for <£50 and get a 640MB or other when the funds allow it.

Also the fan is a bit expensive, if you want a decent fan with ability to overclock, fairly silent & better than most watercooling kits, get the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/105994/rb/0
shop around.

As for the harddrive, try one of these: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-031-HI

Generally the best value & quickest according to CustomPC (www.custompc.co.uk) I own a 320GB version and would recommend them.

Custom PC also do reviews on all components, and publish most of the labs tests on the webpage (as linked to above) inc PSU, Mobo etc.

Don't bother with that keyboard unless you really want it, a cheaper (e.g. 15-20 pound) one will do the trick just as well, and the glowing-ness will get tiresome after a while.

Casewise it's all down to preference. Also remember to buy some fans for keeping the air cold within the case. I'd say £100 for a case with no fans is a royal rip off, but like i say its down to prefence. CPC recommend the Antec P180 - around £75

I dont notice a DVD-RW in your list. I would recommend a samsung drive, DVD-RW'S can be picked up for around £20 at ebuyer.com and most computer retailing sites.

You may also want to consider getting a pre-build PC, bearing in mind your spending £1118 on a pc, you dont appear to be getting too good a spec. One example is:
Chillblast fusion:
http://www.chillblast.com/pconf.php?productid=18104

goto customise, and get the 640MB gpu. btw that monitor is only 22" but i can vouch 4 it, i own one and its amazing, 22" is more than enough, and the monitor itself is crystal clear. Just under £1100 (i think)

All prices i've stated inc VAT by the way.

Snubbs, cheers for taking the time to write all that lot mate!!

i changed sped to the quad.

iv already got 2 dvd writers in my current pc so gonna use those, also already got keyboard and mouse so could scrap that. i like working in the dark when im designingthats all, but its hard to type lol.

are desktar HDD's ok now? iv had 2 when they were IBM 'death' stars and both died! iv had a WDC and a Seagate for 3 year now with no probs!

ill check out your links too mate cheers. im gonna leave the monitor for now, iv got a 19" which will do, im gonna save up for the 24" and hope it comes down by xmas (good price now actually)

Will check out a pre-built system too cheers for the link! wonder if u can remove monitor from the deals on there?
