New locks ?

  Jap Box
Im looking to get a new lock for the passenger side as its seized and wont turn from the outside, but also the drivers lock isnt working as it should.

Heres the details: You turn the lock and the pin doesnt move up, Then when turned with much much force the pin raises enough to open the door to the mid point (like hanging on the hinge, like when you dont close the door hard enough. You then have to put more force in again and turn the lock to open the door fully.

The pin goes up and down completely fine though with the central locking :S (Aprt from when the doors open and I press the button, then the pin tries going down but doesnt so I have to lock it from the outside.

Anyone got any ideas on what the problem is with the drivers lock? some sort of metal item bent maybe?

Its about £70 odd for a lock each, do you think I could maybe go to a scrappy and get the door, boot and ignition barrel locks etc for less than that with a matching key? Some scrappys keep keys and others dont so im not sure really.

Thanks for any help

Cliospare on here have quoted me a cracking price for a full lockset before mate.

Have you tried just oiling it all up?

Also, have you tried just getting new Mech's, as it may be those that are sticking? (I had one recently that was sticking, new mech from someone off here, perfect, it didn't open with the central locking and could barley open with the key before I changed it).

Oddly didnt think about cliospares for the locks, ill indeed give them a ring soon :)

Nope havent tried new mechs yet, but the passenger lock is defo seized anyway, put got knows how many shots of WD40 in there and its not budged. Works fine with central locking though both of them do.

Mech could be the problem with the drivers side then as with the key it barely moves.

Ill see if I can get it all off cliospares :)
