New paintwork

  Golf GT & A4 Avant
I'm having a new bonnet fitted and sprayed this week, and have it blended into the wings etc, so I doubt it will all be put in the paint oven.

I've done a search and have read you should let the paint breath for a month or so, but how long should I leave it for? I wash my car with CarPlan turtle wax shampoo, it reads "adds wax as you wash". I'm guessing this is probably not the best shampoo to use.

Is there anything I can do to the paint to protect other than regular cleaning, or will I have to simply leave it for a few months then completely detail it and start from there

Ask the people painting it as to if you can wax it or not, no point second guessing.

I have just had my bumper painted and am using Meguiars #7 Show Car Glaze for the next few weeks.

Should read that VXR nutter thread! He uses alot of protection stuff iirc!

Also getting the car detailed may help the paintwork around the bonnet become fresher and it may not be so noticeable if at all
