Tom-m - I paid $270 Australian (about 90 quid or $145 US) for the cerwins
Soapsuds - front splits are 6.5 inchers and they are 76 mm deep. Tweeters are under the factory grilles on the dash and the main speaker is behind the factory grille in the door - if you sat in my car youd never know I had aftermarket speakers....until I turned the stereo on... ! The genesis is MORE than enough grunt - The guy that installed my system has been installing car audio since the early 80s and says my amp is one of the best hes ever seen and heard. Seriously, you wont believe how powerful they are. Only rated at 2x30 but on the birth certificate test sheet its putting out 2x57 RMS @ 4 ohms and thats virtually class A amplification so its equivalent to about 2x90w with a run of the mill Class AB amp. Remember, quality amps of lower power will ALWAYS produce more grunt and better control than a sh*tty amp with big RMS claims. My system is living proof and all it cost me was just under $1500 Australian Dollars or around 500 quid! DLS and genesis is a golden combination.
But shop around for the Genesis Amp. I got mine for $350 Aussie dollar but it retails for $799! It was just sitting in a display cabinet and no one bought it for 3 years. When I asked why the dealer said "people want big flashy amps. If an amp isnt huge, doesnt have lots of lights and doesnt weigh a tonne, people think they wont do the job...in other words most people are stupid! I think its the best amp we have" He was right!
cheers
