newbie ICE advice - what setup

  A black one

Hello I am a complete noob 2 all this car owning malarky, havin just passed me test & rinsing a loan on a new clio. I no fark all about ICE & cars, but I do know that I still have about £500 burning a hole in my pocket & a desire to damage my ears with an install thats gonna be the shizzle!

Anybody got any heads up as to what to get hold of & how easy it is to do? Should I go to a in-car audio place like Sextons, or will they rip me off?

Actually, I dont want something that will boil sheeps stomachs but just something that Mozart would have in his motor if he was around 2day, quality vs volume if ya know what I mean (altho a bit of volume is always good too!)

Sorry if this has been askd loads b4, if so a link will suffice!

You have a budget of £500

Firstly i would get a new head unit...

Personally if i had £500 now i would get a Pioneer 77MP

Then get some DLSR5a front comps

Amp to run components passive Directed 2400

leaves £30 for a wiring kit.

May aswell use 4awg now so you have room to upgrade later.
Then save up a months wage for a sub and an amp.. that would be a very nice system and i would be quite jealous myself.

If you want, head over to the guys at http://www.talkaudio.co.ukwww.talkaudio.co.uk its a specialist car audio forum, been in various specialist mags, not max flower or fast car or the like...

And whatever avoid 6*9s, sony splx and some lower end "market" names as there are better budget brands out there for the money.

haha Ive been researching it & theres no way I can afford to get it all done in one go, gonna look for some front speakers first, amp & a new HU, thanks for all the info, very helpful & you found the best prices for me too!

Worth spending on a good head unit mate - before doing anything - it all comes from there - £300-£500 for a good one will see you proud when you start asking questions of it!

Am getting an Alpine £399 HU soon.... worth it for the long run!
