Nikkor 55-200mm lens

Would this lens auto focus with a D40? and would it be worth getting one?
any examples using this lens would be much appreciated

If possible get the VR version.

VR takes away a lot of vibrations, so when shutting in low light it effectively takes it down a couple to f stops.

I've got the 18-55mm VR and you can see the difference the VR makes:

They were both taken at 55mm, ISO 100, F5.6, 1/3sec. These aren't crops either so differences are huge when looking at larger sizes.
