NTL - 2Mb to 4Mb upgrade

Weird says I'm on 4 meg to but not noticed any increase in speed

Open a web browser and go to 192.168.100.1. This should bring up the modem's config page and you actually see what it is set to. I personally wouldn't trust web based speed testers at all.
To get the most from 10 meg you need the right equipment. You need a reasonably new modem with a 100mbps interface and if you have a router make sure it also has a 100mbps interface. Most older models are only 10mbps half duplex which isn't good enough. I would also avoid using USB where possible. I ditched my old 3com modem and old netgear router, my speeds changed from 500K/s to a whopping 1150K/s

According to the guy at ntl im on one meg on his system, but it looks like somehow they've given me two accounts... as im being billed for a two meg one 2.

Sorry m8, was talking to the other guy ^^ Their customer service does suck, but you could be able to use this incident to get a better price/speed out of them. Lots of people manage to negotiate one off deals/special rates cause they're pissed/going to leave. Try it!

NTL says everybody " should " be upgraded by the end of June . I've just checked their website and it says i'm on 4mb now . I've just done a speed test and i'm still on 2mb which i'm happy with , never had a problem with NTL and been with em about 3 1/2 years , can't wait for 4mb though
