Odd electric goings-ons...

I think my battery's on the way out, as the trip computer resets itself each time I start the car up (apparently the first sign?...).

Recently, I've had:

• (Earlier this week) The indicators didn't work. I then turned the lights on and off and the indicators starting working and have been fine since...
• (Yesterday) The stereo stalk controls didn't operate the stereo. The next time I was in the car they worked fine and have ever since.
• (Today) The central locking kept trying to lock and unlock as I was driving along (clickclickclickclick). I held the lock button for a second and it was fine.

These all sound like more signs of a new battery needed, or a bigger electrical problem? :S

id go with a new battery first. i think they last about 5 years on average.

Aye the battery will be getting replaced soon, just wondering whether to budget for lots of expensive work to find a random electrical problem! Wouldn't surprise me if water was getting into the loom somewhere...

Battery replaced yesterday...

I started the car this morning to a trip computer reset and windscreen wipers not working! Turned off and restarted and was all fine... argh!

I'm wondering if it's just something due to the cold?

my steering wheel stereo controls dont work at all , but the battery is 6 years old :s
is it likely to be that, as everything else (trip computer nd that) is ok

Sounds like a different incident with regards to the controls mate - probably worth starting a separate thread...

Maybe everyone else has found that a new battery fixes it, but it hasn't for me...

Well, actually, it looks like the battery has sorted the trip computer reset problem... not reset since last Friday. Not sure why it reset itself on Friday after the battery was fitted though.

However, I'm still having the problem with severely intermittent operation of the wipers, windows, central locking (once in the car) and stereo controls... the wipers are the worst. Seems to sort itself out once running for a few minutes, but it's not right.

Any further ideas?
