odd problem... mechanics etc?

right, my fuel pump....

when i turn the key in the ignition to just before starting the car, the fuel pump should prime should it not?

mine doesnt. BUT.. when i turn the key to fire the engine up it does pump! but the car still wont start it just turns over (i took the line off and it pumped fuel everywhere thats how i know)

also if i give it a temp feed so its permanently running the car still turns over but doesnt start.

any ideas?

need to check things such as the feed to the pump and also if that checks out ok check your pressure regulator, voltage to the injector plugs (should be 12v) check the injectors themselves work and make sure you have the fuel lines on the correct way round (obvious one but could happen) feed should be the one nearest the cams)

If you've got the fuel pissing out everywhere after you disconnected it, it's not worth checking the regulator or pressure. Check the injectors. There 5V not 12V by the way. Feed them with 12V and your just f**k em. Check for spark. Check TDC sensor. Ohm it out, shouldn't be any more than about 220 ohms. Check the fuel. You haven't put diesel in have you? (Sounds stupid, but people do it). This is all I can say check really without knowing what car it is.
Hope it helps, Chris

Top Dead Centre, Crankshaft posion centre. Basically the ecu of the engine management receives a signal from this sensor when you turn the engine over. When it thinks it's turning over fast enough it will then activate the fuel pump. Well this is based round a Renault so not sure about the Jap stuff.
