Old vs New tv

I've recently bought a 19inch lg LH200 to replace my old 14inch CRT I've played with every option it just doesn't seem as good picture wise it seems to lack crispness any advice on settings I'm forever flicking between the picture modes twisting it away from natural light an that's before I get to then really thin sound

Why does it feel like my laptops screen is brighter richer an more viewable

strangly the built in freeview sounds better then my tvonics pvr im still having reception issues on both unlike my old tv

its not a bad tv just expected a bit more wow tbh the hidden usb connectivity option does make it a bit more special

by the sounds of things a led tv would have been a better option as i do i like viewing at really funny angles
