Omen 600 and coolant temp

Right have a bit of a problem whereas I don't know which cables supply my coolant temp gauge on my clocks plus the gauge would be calibrated for a Renault ecu not my omex. So I've come to accept that I won't be able to use the gauge I have.

so my next idea was a set of lights, taking my inspiration from the new Clio 200t.

would it be possible to get the omex to turn a blue light off when optimum coolant temperature is reached and a red light on when coolant temperature gets too high?

If so how do I go about it? Aux outputs from the omex? Or if not should I get another cts and have some sort of control off that?

If you have a guage then why would you want to have the OMEX involved mate? Get a guage with programable lights with different colours like the SPA guages.

The gauge is on the standard clocks, its calibrated for the Renault ecu (not using the renault ecu) and cts. I don't know which cables going into the clocks control the gauge anyway.

so plan was as there's a cts for the omex to know coolant temp for mapping and engine fan control I was thinking of using an output to control some lights just as a quick visual (that's all you ever do with the gauge anyway)

Yeah its possible through conventional wiring but unsure if the OMEX offers an auxiliary output for the purpose (doubt it) Just take a feed from the fan circuit, when it goes on or is supplied power then so will your light.

I don't see any purpose of a blue light, its just another pointless economy aid that they insist on fitting nowadays.

Omex are a really helpful bunch and could advise best.

​that is a better idea! I only really want the warning light anyway, the blue light was purely a courtesy thing I.e light goes out your up to temp

That's the simplest you could have it.

The CTS is just a variable resistor so if you can get a programable light of some sort then you could have both your lights at whatever temperature you wanted if you knew the voltage given for a certain temperature.

FYI before the heaters go warm then that's your blue light ;)

Yeah I was hoping the omex was clever enough to sort the lights out for me lol.

I have an oil temp gauge anyway so that will give me some idea :)
 
What most people do is drill the thermostat, tap it and put the omex water temp sensor in there. Then leave the standard water temp sensor connected to the old ecu and powering the gauges.


If you've completely ditched the old ecu then I'd consider replacing the dials in the dashboard with a set of gauges with there own sensors - you'd only have to create a small loom for them

It's a plastic thermostat housing, and I've ditched the old ecu.

​Currently my tachometer works, fuel gauge works and speedo works off the abs so should still work anyway. Only other gauge left if coolant and if that doesn't work then its fine, but I would like a visual sign that the engine is getting hot


The 4 new gauges I have are oil pressure, oil temp, boost and afr. So I have a pretty comprehensive view on what's going on when I'm driving
