Overheating

  Clio Sport 1.2 16V
Noticed on my way home tonight that my car was running a bit on the hot side. Tried to put the blowers on to take some heat off the engine - only cold air came out which puzzled me a bit.

5 mins later temp warning light came on and stop light came on.

Under the bonnet the cooling seemed very low so i topped it up and its run fine for the rest of the journey home.

Also I have noticed that my car is showing slightly less oil in it that when I filled it up.

Any suggestions - I know the signs could indicate a head gasket but is there any more straight forward solution?

it could be the raditor, i had a leak in my radiatorr last week, but if your oil is running low it sounds more like a head gasket

CHeers for the advice.

How do I figure out if it is the head gasket without taking it to Arnold Clark who would no doubt fleece me for every penny I have.

Update - ive just went out and checked and the oil is below min on the dip stick and there is a small drip of oil on the drive way.

Does it sound like the head?
