Paint matching

  182 Cup
So today I got my new door on, its mondial blue so was a mission to find one. Only trouble I have with it is that its slightly darker than the rest of the car, and contrasts greatly with the front wing. Do the plastic wings fade differently to the paint on metal at all? Im also wondering if anyone has had this issue before, its possible the rest of the car is slightly faded compared to the new door, so pressumably machine polishing the car will sort the problem? If it is unfortunately a different batch of paint on the new door, I will have to have it sprayed and blended. Anyone done this and know how much it costs roughly and what is involved? Thanks :)

It could be that your paint is slightly faded, but there are loads of things that could affect the colour. There could be more than one shade of mondial blue (I've seen up to 10 shades of the same colour available before), also if the door has been painted after it came out of the factory whatever bodyshop painted it may have used a cheap paint scheme which wasn't very good at matching the colour. To get it 100% spot on you'd need to do the full side of the car.

if you are only sprayin the door then it will always look different as you havent blended the paint to the existing paint! you really need to blend into both panels on either side of the door... which can become quite costly, i have done it on a few cars and its really the only way to do it properly imo but you can expect to pay anything from £300-£800 depending on where you go.. (bodyshop or mobile body repairer--(me))
