Palmersport day tomorrow

  FN2 Type R +MK6 Golf

Good luck in that thing mike. The red beast will seem a little slow after that i guess...

Mike have a top day! i was there two weeks ago & it was red hot... The Jag is awesome... But the Clio Cup is Top as well bath have sequential shifts so keep your foot glued to the boards!!! let us know what time you post in the Cup! even if it is in the wet! Hope it stays dry ....

Mike 85.50 recorded round the West circuit in the cup racer...Just dug out my time! in the dry but V hot 30+ degrees so the guys said the cars were not breathing as efficiently as should be ( fast enough though)

Tom, Basically it’s a 3.0 X Type engine in a car weighing just over 600kg… power to weight is awesome.. It is honed just for trackdays modelled on a le man racer, its 2 seats sequential box. 0-60 3.2 secs 0-100 6.8 top speed 180mph+…. And you drive it on the day for about 15 mins or 10 or so laps, believe me you feel knackered when you get out. One of the straights you get up to just under 140 mph… so I imagine the standing ¼ on this thing is quick.. (the straight just being under ¼ mile. Its one of the cars you drive on the Palmer sport day… fortunately I go with work each year but I hear its normally about £700 per person for the day.. Corners like nothing you have ever been in. Basically unless you have Driven a McLaren F1 road car or other race car you haven’t or wont ever drive anything as quick in your life… For the record.. Top Gears Stig took it round the Top Gear circuit nearly 4 seconds quicker than anything else tested on the show!

Have a great time Mike - a supplier promised me a trackday at Bedford doing the whole lot - at the time my main aim was to drive the Evo - but have since fallen out with supplier and driven Evo on the road twice so need not sooooo great, although on a track would be better of course!

let me know what the evo is like - still might have to buy one !!!

OK heres the surprising verdict:

FP1 Jaguar - as pictured above. First on the menu - still half asleep, pouring with rain. Brutal car, amazing in every respect, particularly grip.

Evo - what can I say - its just a big floppy blancmange. Everyone hated it, including the instructors. It just wont get its nose into a corner at all.

Caterhams - :D (still pouring with rain)

Vauxhall VX220 turbo - slightly disappointing engine, but more than makes up for it with an awesome chassis. I was passing FP1 Jags in the VX - loved it, may buy one.

Formula Palmer Audi single seater. Just fantastic, and no instructor bellowing at you either.

Clio Cup Racer. Still the best of the lot. It even stopped raining.

wow - well I know how much fun the cup racers are - but i am surprised about the Evo, but now I can stop bitching about wanting one!!!

Mike did you get a time in the Clio? did you run it in the dry?

Just wondering...As i had 85.50 secs... (Oh feel the old competative Dad streak in me there...!)

Mixture of drizzle, damp and puddles in the Clio, but at least it wasnt pouring with rain. I got 86.something and was almost the fastest. I think thats why I enjoyed the Clio so much - at least I could see where I was going!
