Parcel Shelf Help Needed !!

  172 Cup (2003)
Hello there,

I could do with some parcel shelf / speaker advice if possible... i've just bought myself a new parcel shelf off of eBay that has speakers already built into it. (larger ones and tweeters)

I should really of checked how to fit it beforehand, but i couldn't wait :S

So....

This is the new shelf, its an original Renault part - Number 77 11 223 604

It has a cable coming out of the side....

With an end like this...

....but my existing rear speakers are here...

Can anyone offer any advice at all on how to get this wired up ? Am i really going to have to run a cable right from the headunit?

Any help / advice at all would be great !!

Thanks in advance

Gazz

Looks like it has been modded for rear components (sepearate tweeter/mid).

That connector could be for wiring to an amp in the boot, but not sure why the plastic connector. It looks similar to the ones that go into the factory HU.

Don't fit it at all, stick with your factory parcel shelf, the soundstage will be too far back and sound sh!te

But you don't need better sound in the back, rear speakers are for passengers and who cares about them lol. Don't fit the parcel shelf, remove the rear oe speakers and stick a set of components in the front and amp them, its all thats needed and is perfect for an install in a Clio.

Again, your input is appreciated, i don't want to spend any more money than i already have, so buying more speakers and an amp isn't an option right now.

If anyone can help with this install, that would be great.

Hydeyho speaks the truth, when you go to a music concert where does the music come from? Behind you? Didn't think so.......

Take the comps out of the parcel shelf and stick them in the front doors

I hear what you're saying, but i've just moved from a Toyota MR2 which had a small cockpit with an 8 speaker system, so the music was all around me... i got real used to that and i want to try and recreate it in my 172.

I've not gotten that far yet... they front sounds a lot better than the back, so the back is where i started :) Everything is standard so far

  172 coming soon
Buy yourself an AMP and wiring kit, and wire it in with the wiring kit and mount it in the boot.

Run the RCA and Remote Wire from the back of your HeadUnit to the AMP, giving it its signal.

Cut those connectors off the end of the speaker cable that came with the parcel shelf, and run them to the AMP.

Then fcuk about with the settings (Fader, gains, bass, treble etc etc) until you get it sounding the way you want it to,

And Hey Presto, job done, with great sounding rears :p

Yup, i hacked the ends off the standard rear speakers... and ran wire to the new shelf. Sounds top too :)

Thanks for the suggestions though :)
