I dont want the ride to get any more crashy, but want less body roll and more lateral grip. will the koni dampers make a difference?

Hi, Do Clios have an anti roll bar (ARB)? If they do why dont you just uprate that so you get less roll?

It worked a treat for my scoob and most other performance cars seem to up rate them too so why not on a clio?

they all have an anti roll bar fitted yep, reason no one uprates them is because no one actually makes an uprated one as far as im aware. powerflex do uprated anti roll bar bushes which help make it a bit more solid

There no cheap uprated one there are a few used on racer cars and custom made but for the cost vs gains people go to Coilovers etc.

The low powered Mk1's don't have one.

For the Mk2 phase 2 1.2 and 1.4 etc but not the RS (different ARB design)you can upgrade to the harder ones as used on the 1.6 and dci model which is 26mm from memory the 1.2 and 1.4 use the 22 and 24mm (I think there sizes).

Try those first mate, not a huge outlay. Carlton Garage can get them fitted for you in an hour. They've made quite a big different to the handling of mine (Pro's instead of Sport's) and are very good VFM.

I was considering adjustables / coilovers for a while but just couldn't justify the expense for what I use the car for.

Exactly the same situation here, needed new shocks and decided to go for brand new standard shocks with Eibach Pros and the ride is great, no more crashy bumps :)

The Koni Adj kits that sel for 350 that include the Koni springs are ok to get the shocks cheaper than buying 4 on their own (with no springs), but everyone I've spoken to who has bought the full Koni kits has said the springs were s**t. Too harsh and crashy, they quickly junk them for a set of Eibachs.

so my recommendation would be a set of Pro/Sport lines (ride/handling same on both, just one lowers more apparently) and a fresh set of Renault shocks (approx £175).
