paypal question: wtf is an echeque?

  R35 GTR
I have been using it for so many years, and i have never heard of one of these. Can anyone explain it to me, as I am recieving over 300 and dont want to get scammed.

Shouldnt get scammed, I have had a few now, often noobs who send them by mistake. It just takes about a week to clear, dont know why people use them, dont send the item until it has been confirmed.

They are not dodgy though, it comes up with a sandtimer in myebay until it has gone through

They're ok to use and whatever, but take upto 10 days for it to clear. I have to use echeques as I don't have a credit or debit card so can't do instant money payments.

I will be waiting a while then, looks like around 14 days to get into my bank account, lol. the buyer is gonna be pissed. :clown:

I wasn't sure when i had one, but it cleared eventually..confirmed by paypal! Slow but sure;)

As above they are fine. Before you click send payment go into payment options and make sure instant payment is checked, and echeque is unchecked.

I was wondering the same thing, some dude has paid me with one (only about a tenner, but thats not the point;) )
He bought the item on 25/02 & the echeque is supposed to clear on 07/03  - seems long to me, he told me when it'll clear & I looked in paypal, he's not lying.
Also told him, i'm not posting out till its cleared.

Basically, if you sign up to paypal, you can choose to use a credit card, or you can choose to set it up so payment comes straight out your bank account. If you have it so it comes out your account, its an echeque, which takes a week or so to clear. If your paypal is setup to pay with c/card, payment comes out straight away.

Its perfectly legit, dont worry, your not being scammed!

I don't have a credit card (only a debit one) & have it set up for bank account funding. Its never been called an echeque when i've paid, infact when i pay it clears straight away.

I think it comes out of your debit card, as you cant set it up as if you dont own a card whatsoever, similar to a bank transfer... thats what i've done, I only seem able to pay by echeque, which is an arse!
