Performance...

  Fiat Coupe 20v turbo

...has anyone else got used to the performance of their car and no longer thinks it very quick? I think my cars quite nippy but it doesnt seem to have the brutal acceleration of a quick car like a scooby/evo/cossie or even a Type-R or TT, maybe its the lack of a turbo....but Im just left thinking I need more power??

i think all cars are the same! When i first passed i my 1.0 fezzy was plenty fast for me.....well for about a month. So six months on i got a 1.4rt, and a year are that i got a 1.6 16v clio. I supposed ive found the limits to the clio already, although its still fun and as soon as i find a mod friendly insurance company il give it a bit more power.

I reckon once ive had this a year il probably get bored again, but its all good and an excuse for a new one

Thats what you get with an NA engine, a very linear torque curve. It doest have the dynamic compression ratios to create a high output burn.

A turbo can forcefully create a massive torque level from low down whih you feel as instant acceleration.

But half the fun of a good drive is wringing the neck off an NA engine.

But most people get used to it, i suspect shumy thinks he needs another 200bhp.

yeah, I think you may be right its just in my head I imagine scoobies, evos etc.to be stupidly quick where as in reality they shouldnt be too much quicker than my car....

Then get them.

Convert to a megane head, add bodies (oh and freshen your rings/bores) and itll be much faster.

oh no not u stevie boy, with my driving skill i should have more power, bloody insurance!

i feel the same mate! untill i come across a good comparison with a faster car and show it up!

then it feels quick for a bit hehe

Going from a 172 to an S3 has been a big jump, S3 feels alot more "lively" thanks to the Turbo, but overall its not that much faster than the 172.

Also its 4wd and feels much more stable when using the power.

But your right, my 1.1 Cit AX felt fast ;) next was my Clio 1.4S Maxim which felt fast. The 172 was amazingly quick and now I have an S3 which feels the quickest of the lot.

martin - i think no matter what car you drive whether it be a tuned williams, 5 Turbo, noble M12, aston or even ferrari, you would get used to the pace.

As the more you drive it the more you get used to when the power kiecks in and how fast to corner etc, and then you always try and push it that little bit harder!

When my mate took me out in my car and then in my mates 205 GTI, he thrashed it like a real maniac but then showed me exactly what my car could do and I thought flippen heck, my car has more power than his and so why do I need more to make it drive like he did!

Anyway thats why I am thinking of taking i on a track so I can get the full potential out of my beast before any conversion takes place, as it all costs money and that could be saved and put towards another car or put towards some big power gaines on yours!
