Pheasent + my R27

  Liquid Yellow 197 F1
Well driving to work today and a pheasent walked out in front of me on a dual carridgeway i tried to miss it, but it jump instead of running.
It hit my bumper has smashed my headlight, knocked my wing mirror off into my passenger window chipping that and has also dented the top of the door.

So im left needing a new headlight, wing mirror, window, possibly a door, and a set of new R27 stickers.

Sorry i don't have any pictures atm but will put some up tomorrow.

I'm not sure wether or not to go through the insurance as im about 2 months off of having protected no claims and i don't fancy having a claim against me. I hate pheasents so much right now!!

On a brighter note Renault are going to fix my passenger seat which has stopped sliding forwards and backwards.

This happened to me in my Cup, a few years ago. It's lanky legs slid right up my bonnet leaving long dents, fecked my wipers and splatted into the windscreen! I was doing around 60 at the time, so there was not much of a windscreen left!

The lardy ass birds can't seem to get airborne very easily and fly a few feet from the ground. I see them getting plastered by vehicles all the time! No wonder they are easy to shoot!

i was following my boss back from work in lincoln the other day and he hit a pheasent in front of my and covered my car in bits of it, so i went to wash the windscreen and realised all my water has leaked out as usual and had to drive 30 miles home with bird smushed all over my car :(

I got my quote last night for the damage, and Renault want a grand total of £1650 to fix the Clio.

Some of the prices they have given me for parts just don't seem right. Like the sticker on the side of the door cost £108, the wing mirror costs £350 and thats without paint, yet a headlight is only going to cost £108...this just doesn't make sense to me.

Are they folding mirrors or have they priced a folding mirror mate.

The price is bang on btw, i'm an assessor and wouldn't be far off with that quote.

No its just a normal electric heated mirror. I was thinking of maybe trying a few salvage yards to get a mirror, window and headlight, fitting them myself and then all i need is a weather strip and sticker when its painted.

The thing is that i'm about a month off of having 4yrs ncb so i would be able to protect them. So if i'm going to claim should i wait till then?

Nice whats the damage to yours like? Has the bumper actually cracked?
1 of my friends hit a fox and it nearly wrote the car off!!

dealers always seem to make up numbers and change things unnecessarily, someone has driven along the side of my mums 59 plate X3 then drove off. damaged doors, rear wing and door handles, but BMW are quoting 120 for an undamaged petrol cap which is on the other side!

Pretty glad mine didn't get written off!

Yeah bumper was cracked in two places, as seen in the pic. But is fixable i think, coz its just moved in front if u know what i mean, can just squeeze/bend it back in place in a way.

Splitter has came off now, coz where the splitter was screwed into the bumper, those bits have actually snapped, so need to re-drill different holes for it. Haven't had time to do this yet.

But i think i can fix it to an extent where its alright. The tow eye cover was lost when i hit it, so its somewhere on the A1 at the moment!

I've had a stag land on my bonnet before, but I'm sure someone will be along in a mo and trump that with a flock of sheep, or something.

Pick up the majority of the parts on ebay....stickers sounds costly!
Also..you'll be pushed to find a s/h electric fold in mirror, maybe go without if it will save you a few £££?

Don't scrape on spraying though...especially with your colour!

when i used to have my mk1 106 rallye i had a omp lower strut brace. going down a b-road round a corner and couldnt swerve to avoid a badger (roadkill at the time) as there was a car on the otherside of the road. needless to say i fooking nailed it hard and dragged it for a fair amount of time with parts of the badger going everywhere. i pulled over and looked underneath and it was gutts and blood everywhere with badger furr stuck to the blood lol. took a while for it to come off tbf. :dead:
