Photoediting

  Golf GTD Mk7
Hi all,

did a search but couldn't find anything really.

Just wondering how many people edit their photos'.

How do you edit, software etc? Any tips? don't want to over edit them really. I'll be using photoshop elements.

Any advice welcome :D

I do edit some of my images on the odd occasion, I use Adobe Photoshop CS3. My best advice, is to keep the image looking natural, theres nothing worse than an over edited image. Less is more.

Thats what i was thinking. Sharpness and contrast as a minimum, or not? Also, changing the black to darker i've heard is a good option.

Adobe Lightroom! It's and awesome piece of software and much better suited to simple image enhancement than Photoshop.

Photoshop still gets used when more specific edits are needed but Lightroom saves me hours the majority of the time.

Crops, simple cloning, vignettes, contrast, levels, noise, grad filters.... possibilities are endless! There are loads of automated tasks which also do the job nicely without having to put too much effort in.

I also use it to handle batch processes like exporting to Flickr, it is also the perfect tool to use for your catalogue. I used to use Canon Photozoom but LR is a lot nicer to use with thousands upon thousands of images.

It also makes use of dual screens which is a bonus, you work on one while seeing the image in full size in the screen next to you.

I shoot RAW then use the Photoshop raw adjuster thing to up some levels/increase some colours. then crop. wack on a border (usually)

Also free editing software on the net such as Paint.NET and Gimp2, good but perhaps not as good as PS. Cant say I've used it PS though so cant make a fair comparison.

I mostly just tweak sharpness, contrast, colour atm. Soon to be getting CS4 and Lightroom 2.
