Photography Comp - Round 28

[Revels]

As we had two themes running, we now have two winners, to two new themes..

BluePete won shot of the year with..

skatedemonuk won the water theme with..

So the next themes are.. Pictures of People Taking Pictures & Colour Popping


Comp runs from now until midnight Tues 23rd Feb. Any photos entered must be taken between now and midnight Tues 23rd Feb.

Rules:

- Post a maximum of 3 images at one time, you can come back with more pics if you have tried something different, but please stick to 3 pics max each time.

- You must flag one image as your entry, feel free to repost your chosen image towards the end of the comp with 'entry' above it, this will be placed into a new thread at the end of the alloted time for people to vote on.

I will no longer be automatically taking the first image somebody posts, only images with entry clearly written above or below it will be accepted

- Try to keep posted images to a max of around 800px wide.

- No rules on photoshop use etc, but this is first and foremost a photography contest, not a photoshop contest.

- All images entered must be taken within the dates of the competition specified above.

- Winner chooses next subject

It's 3 per time. So if you try something else and come back then you can post more.

There's no real limit. Just stops someone posting 50 of the same thing at very slightly different angles lol.

Lol. The rules aren't that strict with regards to how many/when/what you post. It's fairly slack tbh.

Nice idea. I would see if you could trigger a flash from behind the camera to light the cards...oh and tidy up your selective desaturation

Flash on the floor pointed up with a dvd case to aim it slightly forwards so it lit the cards more than me.

Because none were valid entries, some were put up purely for C+C. It's the same each round, people post up shots they took way back when and even say "I know I can't enter, but..."

It just clogs up the thread and is annoying for people like me who're on a ropey connection at times.

Fair enough... but it kind of makes a mockery of the rules... for example, I posted up because I read that the rules were 'slack' and so it didn't really matter when/what/how the photos were taken. I guess a better definition of 'slack' is needed (which could be difficult) or - alternatively - rules are adhered to. That way there's no grey area (no pun intended given the theme for this competition).

I also realise it's only a bit of fun so... like anyone really gives a poop what I think!

I said the posting how many/at what times rules were slack. The date rules have always been stuck to.

We always get people posting pics that were taken outside the rules. But when people are posting just for c&c then that's not really fair. There's plenty of places for those shots to go.

For what it's worth - the colour popping technique isn't the same as selective colour.

'Colour popping' is discussed on flickr here

Although it's not really something I think you could do as a theme? It's really more of an enhancement of existing photos type thing!

I've always understood "colour popping" to be the adding of black and white to an image to draw the attention of the viewer to a coloured object.
