Plenum gasket

Is the plenum gasket the same on both the 172 mk2 and the 182?

Is it necessary to change this on removal of the plenum?

Thankyou.

They say you should replace it, I had mine off at least 10 times and the original gasket still sealed no probs.

Cheers mate, am only doing the plugs so it will be removed just the once.

Spoke to Renault today and they were helpless!

I left mine in place when I did the plugs, D. It has been fine ever since.

One thing I would suggest is to clean up the valve at the start of the intake itself. Mine had a noticable ring of crap around the edges and I spent a good 10-15 mins cleaning it. I could have sworn that the throttle felt more responsive afterwards.....

Thanks for the advice Darren, will look out for that and give it a good clean if required.

Good stuff mate.

As long as you're careful... ie don't bend it, you'll be fine for a few times.

Yeah it just stayed seated exactly where it was, didn't even move which was good.

Although I think, for the sake of it, the next time I have the plenum off I will invest in a PTFE gasket.

Yeah mate you may as well invest in one as you'll never have to replace it again - as it happens I have a spare plenum gasket let over from a set at home - drop me a PM if your interested.
