plip Signal

Hi guys i was wondering if you guys can help me.. ive got a 98 S reg clio. Now till today i couldnt get the plip working only to realise that i was inserting the batteries the wrong way :dapprove: . now ive ive got it working however the problem is that the signal of the plip seems to be very weak i mean i cant get it to work unless if im literally standing next to car however other people can usually operate it from a fair distance who have plips for their cars.. Is this a common thing for this reg of the car or is there anything i can do to strengthen the signal cos the plip inst very useful if i have to stand next to the car to operate i mean im then better off then getting into the car and then pressing the central locking button inside to open all the doors. LOL.Any help

i think your plip is infra-red so you would likely need to aim straight at the sensor, which i think would be by the rear view mirror.

Radio operated plips dont need to be aimed as accurately.

The range of my plip seems to vary but it's not the strongest signal by any stretch of the imagination.
