Polishing Plenum

  Black Gold Cup Packed 182
Im going to be polishing my plenum this weekend, I have aqquired a dremel to help me, basically need to know what attachments i need and isit advisable to use the dremel to polish the whole plenum or just for the lettering. And any dos & donts will be helpful.

Cheers.

I used a drill with a sanding attachment to start with (about a 80 grain) to get the rough off then sanded, rubbed down to a mirror finish.

Getting in between the letters was hard to do and wasnt gonna look right so i ended up just sanding the whole Renault Sport writting off!

To get a half decent finish your talking losing friends, no skin on your fingers and basically losing the plot

Any chance of a step by step from anyone? With materials used?

Thx in Advance.

I agree with Andyman, you are looking at hours and hours of effort if you haven't got the right tools and a clue of the finish you are looking for. I wish I'd never started with mine or at least not started without knowing what the weateher would be like and how long it took for my fingers to stop bleeding. at least I got my fingerprints back.

when i did mine i used a project pack of sand/wet and dry paper from halfords

started with the most coarse stuff to get the majority of the sanding done so it went smooth, then used every grade of wet and dry right up to 1200 (i bought 1200 grade seperatley) used autosol metal polish at the end of the grades and went through to wet and dry process again until i was happy

it f**king kills your fingers and takes a while but worth it imo

hmmm

best thing to do is pay a metal polisher £60 who will take off the bulk like he has done to mine
i have a dremel for getting round the lettering which will take half a day with the right bobs and polishing soaps which i have
and the best park is my fingers are all in tact :)
