Pops and bangs...

  1eight2
I'm not considering this for my own car but just to solve a discussion with a friend last night could anyone explain how it works!?

Thanks in advance

unburnt fuel igniting in the exhuast pipe / manifold area.

No cat and unrestricted boxes sometimes means flames too.

So MPG would drop and surely wouldn't produce any useful?

During the time that you back off at high rpm to induce the bang MPG will decrease, the rest of the time though it wont be effected.

The cells on the map that are changed arent generally ones you are likely to be at much when driving with economy in mind, and the amount of fuel involved is very small, it doesnt take much petrol to make a small bang.

No useful performance effect, unless you happen to have a turbo you are trying to keep spooled, its essentially a very mild version of what happens during antilag.

in theory yes but people havent seen much of a diff and plus the pops only come in when your over 4.5K and lift off so when your at that RPM you aint too arsed about MPG lol

Lol, I did say only if you have a turbo.

If you dont have a turbo, you just have lag ALL the time anyway!

haha the amount of people that think these clios have turbos is actually unreal so them posts are on the way to the next thread lol

Normally if you have this map it comes with a fast road performance map too, so the gains are normally 3-10hp.

But the over run feature is insanely fun :p
