pos neg wire on rear speaker cable??

howdy clioamigos
just been wiring in some jbls 6x9 to my car, but they dont sound as good in the last car
Im thinking that i must have the polarity wrong but just flipping the cable round doesnt make a difference. So does any1 know what is pos/neg on the rear speakers on a 02 172
choices are off grey and kinda off brown!

You need to look at the oem speaker, in the socket of the speaker one of the pins is marked with a + sign.
Off the top of my head its the wire nearest to the clip.
