Pressure washers

i want one might clean my car then where howmuch etc etc anything i should shouldnt get

got one....and the small ones suck.

The small ones can rinse well enough, but cant spray detergent on in any sort of fashion apart from a dribble.

The big trolley carried ones can supply the cleaning mix at a high pressure though, and cost!

I got one half price at £45 from Focus after Christmas. Its great for blasting off thick muck but leaves thin film of muck still on which you have to wash off by hand. It has a shampoo bottle which you attach onto the end of the spray gun, which basically means it just covers the car in soap but doesnt actually clean it. Even if you then wash down with a blast of water it leaves it dirty. I just use it for rinsing - if I can be bothered - quicker to rig up the hose pipe rather than hose pipe and pressure washer.

My dads Karcher has soap inline with the jet and thats better though not brilliant. You really need a hot soap brush like at a garage.

Mines great for the patio though!

yea, i made the mistake of putting my palm on the pencil jet.....few thou PSI never hurt anyone....lol

Bosch do a great one, 100 bar pressure, retails for £90, Aquatak 100. Has a roto jet thing on it, and if you use that on the car it will strip the paint, so its that powerful, only about 2ft tall.

I work in a DIY shop, the larger one on the trolly is £200, and is only 20 bar more powerful.

A pressure washer on its own will always leave a film of dirt, you always need to rub, so to speak

aye, same here, ended up just buying the hose nozzle and now i use that instead of fannying about with the pressure washer

Got a mid-priced one. When I bother to use it ... spray once with straight water, then spray with bubbles, use a sponge, rinse with water and then chamois.

Sponge and chamois do all the real work, which is why recently Ive started using just a bucket, sponge and chamois.

Now if only I could get the frigging alloys cleaned quickly and well 10 spokes on a 172 Mk1, and winter is taking its toll. Any idea what the strongest wheel cleaner that you easily buy is?

just use the drive in hand car wash ...loads round leeds...ran by immigrants £ 5 for a wash wax and lather..and a free magic tree...lol

You cant beat a soapy hand job.Unless you get the pressure right on your hose you can do a lot of damage.

I would advise that when you are squirting your hose and spraying everywhere without a care in the world then you use some form of protection.The last thing you want is to be paying after the event for a moment of madness.

In my opinion you are better cleaning patios with pressure washers rather than cars ~ that is what I do with ours!! I lent mine to my neighbour to clean her dirty car and what was a little chip in her bumper of her CTR ended up with being able to see daylight through it!! The power washer turned a chip into a hole in her bumper and also whizzed off a strip of paint where a small area was damaged slightly!! She was possibly holding it far too close to the car.

got a karcher dunno model it got fubared a few weeks ago and we went past a dealer and asked how much it would cost to repair. He said he had no idea without seeing it. After telling him the problems he said it would proberly cost a fortune to repair and was probberly better to buy a new one. My dad almost bought a new one, but the sales guy then said why dont you bring the old one in and we shall see if we can do a part ex? Went home and got it and the bloke almost fel though the floor "do you know what you have here?" "a presure washer?" "well yes but its not a common one we dont sell many as the cost a small fortune, when did you buy it?" " we didnt it was left in the garage when we moved in"

anywho to cut a long boring rambling story short was better to get it rapaired cost us nothing and is the best presure washer ive ever used cleaning the car litterally takes seconds! no film of dirt no nothing! KEEP AWAY FROM ALLOY WHEELS! it striped alot of paint of mine

What model have you got?

I honestly dont know, its my dads, but he left it when he moved out....it cost around £200 about 3 years ago. Its not too big, but has plenty of power.

mines great karcher £60.00 just wash your car as normal and use it to rinse off usually best trick.strong enough to clean alloys instantly and gets bits of dirts under arches etc with ease

Theyre pretty good....

But like someone said you gotta use some elbow grease....

wipe the car down with warm water and detergent, then get the washer out, more detergent, more washer, rinse, and chamois it off.

Then wax and top coat sealant.

Nice....

Yea.. but, they are useful for getting rid of soap etc..

Cus of the volume of water, it gets everywhere so does do quite a good job!

gotta be careful what you spray and how close you hold the nozzle.

i.e. dont try spraying bugs off front of bonnet with nozzle an inch aways as it will start taking the paint off!!
