Problem with head unit.

  Monaro VXR/Cupra TDi
Just recently the steering column controls have stopped working for controling the head unit on my 182 Cup. Also LCD display used to display the word ALPINE, but no longer.

Tried pressing many of the function buttons on it in hope that it would work, all in vain. Would check the instruction manual, though I don't have a copy.:dapprove:

The head unit in question is an Alpine CDA-9847R.

Any one have an ideas what's causing the problem/how to fix it?

Thanks.:)

Sounds like your connector for the stalk/lcd display?? Seems like too much of a coincidence that these things have gone at the same time?

Sometimes with lots of driving these things work their way loose, might be worth giving it a check?? One of my adaptors shook loose after a lot of "spirited" driving

I think you might be on to something there. Whereabouts is this connector located may I ask?

Thanks.:)

I imagine either the yellow mini iso has come disconnected from the adapter loom or the adapter loom has come loose from the interface box.

Understood. Not too familiar whereabouts these connectors are. Does this simply removing the stereo or several parts of the interior trim?

Thanks.

You might get away with removing the stereo, just see what you can see, have a bit of a poke around, and make sure everything is tight, if no joy then just wack the dash off, as i found out not as hard as you may think... although i need to do it again in a few weeks, hmmm.. anyways, should be easy to find what your looking for once you've got the dash off it'll be something thats not connected, post up some pics if you get stuck, i'm sure someone will swoop in and save the day.

^ Thank you. I'll take the stereo out, but that's about as far as I'm going with D.I.Y. I'll leave to the local in-car entertainment specialist. At least I've got an idea about the connectors.:)
