problem with my central locking

hi all i just got my first clio today lol there a few lil things that need fixing but my main concern is the central locking and imobilizer the reciever thing on the roof isnt working it only works when i put the key right up to it and press the button and im wondering how i get this fixed will i have to go to a renault dealer or can i pick one up from the scrappies but the thing is if i pick one up from the scrappies will it work lol let me know thanks

oh forgot to mention it a mk1 facelift model RN 1.2

have you checked the battery in key ??

lol yeh probs the most obvious thing, unscrew the tiny screw in the keyand get a new battery, if no luck then take it a garage and ask them, or alarm specialist.

you might find if you run an amp... and head unit alot... your car battery may also need to be changed or looked at... i discovered the same fault after i removed my sub from the rear of my clio !! Went dead 2 days later !!
