Problem with my mac

Just wondering if anyone would know whats wrong with my mac.
I wont work if i take the charger out, it will cut power straight away so i can go anywere with the laptop unless i have the charger plugged in, It says (Not Charging) were the battery sign is:

And sometimes it has a battery with a X through it..
Dose anyone know whats up with it?

I took it to a shop near me that sell and deal mac computers and they had a look at it, they thought it was the charger but then they found it wasnt as other chargers wernt charging it either, so they done something like a reboot or something and it worked fine, untill a few weeks ago when it has started doing it again :/

Either a duff battery (easy enough to fix) or a fucked charging circuit (that'll be expensive, doubly so because it has an Apple logo on it)

So what you recon i should do with it?
Take it back to the shop i took it to last time? They seemed like they didnt really know what was wrong with it, just hoped for the best.
Or maybe take it to a real apple store?
