Problems with waranty

My rear shock absorbers recently leaked on my 172 cup.

i went to renault to get them replaced, presuming they would be done under waranty as the car still has 10 months manufacturers waranty left.

however my local dealer said they were not coverd as shock absorbers are classed as wear and tear items. and also because my car has done 45,000 miles. so i would therefore have to pay for them to be replaced. i then rang renault who said the same.

just wondering has any one had the same problem and what if any thing can be done? considering e-mailing renault? i cant believe renault expect shock absorbers to last for 45,000 miles and would not replace them under goodwill.

also if i do have to replace them, any ideas how much i can lower my car, considering i intend to put 18s on in the future. any ideas/recomendations which suspension kit to go for?

Cheers

Top site by the way.

There only £45 or so from Renault and its a 5 minute job at worse to chnage you dont even need a jack.

Loads of people have had problems ring Renault Uk again and mention this is a connon fault and many other owners have had them chnaged under warently.

Suspension wise Id say Leda or if you can get hold of one of the 10 sets made Blistein. however the £1.5k or so. H and R come hightly recomended by manay owners on here and are a cheaper £550 option which unless you track your car you probably wont notice a difference.
