Ps3 streaming problem

Been streaming films from pc to ps3 without issue. Installed AVG anti virus today, now the PS3 won't find the pc for streaming. Any advice?

Why do you need to use anything? It's just built in...

Yes but you need something like windows media player etc to stream it..hence why I asked what program he was using on the pc to stream it.

I use PS3 media server linked above.

PS3 Media Server will transcode too, which is helpful when your...errm acquired films are compressed with XviD or MP4 or well anything that isn't an outdated DivX codec.

DLNA is standard in a lot of things, but MS has built it in to Windows 7.

I got my PS3 to pick up the Vista laptop I use when I installed Squuezeserver (for my squeezebox), but then that stopped when I changed router.

But with the Windees 7 lappy, yeah, PS3 picks it up whenever it's on, no hassle

Does the AVG install include a firewall? Although, I'd have thought it would pop a message up if an app was trying to broadcast. Streaming is a mugs game anyway. I moved over to a dedicated media player and will never look back.

PS3 Media Server is good though, and about a hundred times better than WMP. Windows 7 does seem to have built in support, as I have seen my games PC pop up on the PS3. I doubt it transocdes mkv/dts etc. though TBH.

Fucked up again. Downloaded ps3 media server, worked fine. Not made any changes, and now it won't detect the PS3. Windows media player will connect to the ps3, but any file I play just displays
"The data is corrupted" on the PS3. The same files that yesterday were working fine with media server, and still play fine on the laptop. Any idea's??

I had this randomly happen on mine. "Fixed" it by just rebooting the rooter and rescanning for the wifi and setting it back up again. After a while it kept doing it or losing my Wifi altogether so I f**ked it off and went down the powerplug route, never happened since.

AVG free or AVG Internet Security?

If it's the latter then it'll be the firewall protection on it.

Same really. The only streaming issues are down to the wireless router. Netgear is all i'll say = sh1t. Have to turn mine off on a regular basis. If it happens during MW2 it's so annoying.

Failing that, it would be in the new firewall setting? or in the share properties in WMP that might have changed when you installed the new software. Can't see why it would though.

I disabled windows media player as a server I think.

I only use PS3 media server now although I do also run Tversity on mine and can see that on the PS3.
