Can you ass files to it via a USB stick ? just that one film i got is 1.25gb and i have no DVD's!!!!

but if i need DVD's can you burn them as data files to put on the ps3? like how you can transfer files on a Pc.

To view things easily off a USB stick you need to format it in the following way:

Create a folder called PS3, then within that create sub-folders for content called VIDEO, PICTURES, MUSIC then drop your content within that.

Or you can drop it anywhere and just press the Triangle button which should view all files on the device.

Or stream it wirelessly from you PC with WMP 11 Media Sharing and copy it that way, much easier.

hardly much easier, i have the files on a usb drive, i plug it into the ps3, press triangle and all the files are there to run seemlessly, i'd say that is easier, wireless is hardly reliable.

I've tried using the Media Server and it just errors out if you put it under any strain, pretty rubbash tbh
