Quick folks need help - car won't start

Aup all, quickly need anybodys help as im stranded at home here lol. My 172 cup has been having intermittent problems with starting up of late but i've just gone out to it to start it up and it won't even tick over, just keeps making this extremely fast clicking sound!! Electrics are there because the radio etc is coming up but it just won't fire bar this fast clicking noise making the instrument panel sound like its going off its head!! HELLLPPPPPPP

Very possibly a flat battery! it may well have enough power to run bthe lights etc, but there is a big drain when you try and crank it! try and charge it for an hour!

try bump starting it!

you reckon mate? is there any way of me checking it or will that become too technical? Dad thought the battery might have been on the way out but god dam it he's on holiday. Am i as well purchasing a new one and trying that?

bump start it and take it 2 a garage n they will tell u if the battery as had it or ur olternater

Jump start rather than bump start...better for your cat!

Ideally put a charger on it for an hour or so! if you havent got a cherger try jumping it off another car or good battery, just make sure you get the leads the right way around!!

sweet cheers for the advice folks! if it ends up i have to buy a new battery, how much are they nowadays? Do they come fully charged ready to go on the car?

yes they come charged, guessing around £40 roughly! depends where you go, make sure when you change it you remove the negative first and put it on last! ignition and everything turned off! may be worth popping to a agarage to make sure it is charging unless you have a mate with a multimeter?!
