Race car Dash - What are you using?

As in the display or the dash top ?

For display most either use standard dials or something like a dash2 if your running aftermarket ecu.
For dash top either trimmed down standard dash or the dash pad from a mk1

Its the dials, we are trying to remove standard ecu and uch but retain existing dials as we are currently on omex 600 piggy back with standard ecu . If we cant do that whats the next best thing at a reasonable price?

I'm about to fit omex 600 to mine and have a dash2 to fit with a comms lead to feed all info from the ecu.
I'm then going to make up a basic look for lights, wipers

I just run an SPA tacho in the Escort, then a couple of cheap gauges for oil pressure and water temperature. The fancy screen ones are nice, but not sure I could justify the cost.

I run a Stack fuel gauge that can be calibrated to work with different senders. It's in the back of the car so you can see it when filling up.

I think instruments are a tough one in a way. You could argue about how much information you actually need while driving the car and whether it's better to just log it for review afterwards if it bothers you that much. A couple of the works Escorts in the 90s didn't even run a tacho, just a shift light and oil pressure warning light. The only gauge for the driver was a digital brake bias one of all things. They ran a tiny Pectel monitor in the centre of the dash which the co-driver could check if need be.

I have DTA NT-Dash in mine. Very happy. Fully customisable. Not the cheapest out there.
Mine has GPS and data logging.

But that ADU by ECU MASTERS does look sick! Good bit of kit!

Im using a motec c187 reace dash, connected by canbus to a emtron ecu.

It downloads the data so you can do the same annalysis very quickly as a proffesional race team. However compared to development time with no accurate tools its extreemly cheap. nvm

And.. it looks super cool.

Unfortunatly it cost me more than the car did originally.[emoji23]

What can we do for fuel gauge ?
Having raced a Radical for a few years, we never had any more fuel in the car than we needed, so after each race or session, all the fuel was pumped out (sometimes as little as half a litre!) and just the right amount of fuel added for the next race, so my Clio has a dry break on the fuel rail and I do the same. The more you do it, the more data you collect on fuel use and so the need for a fuel gauge disappears.

Yeah we have been working out our fuel consumption at most race tracks last year.. by knowing how much fuel we put in.. how many laps we did and then pumping the tank out after the sessions as you said.. just have to account for warm up lap and driving to grid, and cool down lap..... but if it’s a road car then you can fuel gauges that plug into the existing gauge.. it is just a potentiometer at the end of the day

I'm running a RaceCapture Track on a Gen90. Cheap, £280 delivered. Doesn't include a dash but you can use your smartphone which I do - not had it drop out once. Connects to ECU over CAN. Does all the logging, which you can export to 3rd party software (I use TrackAttack as it's pretty much the only free option for Mac - Can overlay GPS trace and Video to analyse racing lines). Comes in the box with 50hz (smartphones are 1hz) GPS, accelerometer, and OBD cable if youre running standard ECU.

Sorry to hijack this post. Just wondering where you got that short dashboard from? Or if its something youve made? If so... whats it based on.

Thanks
If it’s the top dash you are referring to, it’s from Mk1 Clio. They are like gold dust

Regs of 750mc series im in demand retaining the OE dials - but extras can be added.
I didnt see point in anything flash, realistically the only thing you really need is a rev gauge or shift light, and a maybe a temp warning.

My only addition is a phone running a 10hz gps and racechrono so I can see the predifive lap timing.

The Racechrono/OBD can do it, but i dont have any specific gauge for it. The races are only 15mins so not massively intensive, and in all my years of trackdaying doing 30-45min stints i've never had an issue with oil temps.

I've got a gauge to fit to mine, just out of curiosity really.

I know they have s**t oil pressure as standard.
