reflective windscreen ideas

  1.5dci
not sure if this is the right place to be asking, but hoping someone might have some ideas on if my idea could actually become a project, or if it's just slightly nuts, wont work, or even if it'd be legal!

so my being an electronic engineering student, but on placement working on computers all day i feel the electronics have be lacking in my life, and set my self the challenge to get a project before Easter, which leads me to here, after noticing how reflective the windscreen is, was wondering if it'd be possible to reflect a basic display to me? I thought i'd start with the time as that wouldn't require interaction with the car, but wondering what other dash info would be easily obtainable, as i know you can add other dials and stuff, so they must connect somewhere i'd have though.

Really hoping someone can help me, i know my electronics but my car knowledge is lacking... although would be great if i could gain some knowledge along the way!

Gotta be quick cos I'm at work but thought this may be helpful..!

There's a few HUD apps for the iPhone and I played around with them. The reflection is often hard to see (blurry) and in daylight it's really hard to see it at all.

ah right thats handy to know, maybe i'll try something really simple first then, then wont be wasting too much time if it wont work

  Better than yours. C*nt.
You've got to use lighting of sufficient intensity - which is why the iPhone HUD stuff fails.

ah right, well that makes sense, i was thinking of just using some 7-segs as i've got a bunch kicking around and will use an aurduino or pic so can drive them prity simply. which i imaging will be reasonably sharp (i'll use the red ones), have needed to filter down the ones in my clock, didn't need to turn the light on at night! (although they are green)
