Reinstalling XP..............Help!!!

Gotta reinstall xp as its funked, ive got to the screen where it says where do i want it, like c: drive or e: or what partition?

Do i just put it in the partition with the most memory, as i tried this and it says an operating system is already installed, which is xp will it then over write it or do i delete the partition of c drive and then put it there?????

on the following screen it will say do you want to format the partition and replace all existing versions of the op system.

do that, but make sure you do a full format, not a quick format.

caution:installing mulitple os on a single partition will funk the computer?

so just C continue yeah??

then that prompt you have wrote will come up?

You need to removed the original operating system on there to start with.. then format a partition to re-install.

NB On a new install - you will loose everything.

yes, the installation will ask you if you want to replace all existing versions of the op system on the next screen.

stop being a girl and press C!

how come you should do a full format?

just good practice to perform a full format for a new op system... and should save having to defrag the drive straight after.

format the partition using the ntfs file system (quick)
format the partition using the ntfs file system
leave the current file system intact (no changes)

To be honest i cant remember which one i clicked, in a hurry gotta go football and gym!

That means i just lost all my music, oh well think its backed up on ex hard drive, i am a big girl when it comes to this stuff!

got to the xp screen now n it says 39 minutes so reckon ill just leave it now!

Cheers fubar for the hints, i hope this sorts out the laptop now, its been hell the last couple of weeks, gonna have fun downloading all the updates apparantly!!

it'll ask you to set up the date and time in a few mins before it can continue, so don't go too far.
