remote turn on lead what colur

I manage to slide the headunit out.

what colour is the remote turn on lead? should I just cut that wire and extend that wire to the amp?

Thank you

Blue is the standard but I dont know about a factory unit.

You should extend that to the remote terminal on the amp but i wouldnt cut it, only use it if it is not connected to anything otherwise it probably isnt the right wire!

If its a factory head unit it probably WILL NOT have a specific remote wire (which is blue as stated). This does not mean you cannot fit an amp though.

A remote output is simply a convinient connection on aftermarket headunits that only gives power when the ignition has turned 1 click or more, and is nearly always 5 volts (check your amp spec).

Turn the key to the first position and use a multimeter to find out which wire on the ISO connector is 5V. Once you have done that then check that when the key is turned to OFF, no reading is given for that wire. This is your wire to tap into (otherwise keep looking).

Connect another wire to this one and run it to your amp. Job done.

Hope this is of some use to you - Laurence.

errr

the remote wire is 12Volt.

its just a switched 12V to turn the amps/EQ/crossovers on and off.

Most headunits have a remote ariel lead for an electric ariel you can use this wire the same as the remote wire, most headunits nowadays only have the one ariel/remote wire but some like alpine have one for each.

I must have a strange amp then. There is no question that it requires a 5 Volt remote. Weird!
