Resetting Mileometer

Hi all,

I have a sreally strange and annoying problem with my '03 172.

Normally you fill up, reset mileometer ( and then computer if you want to with a second push of the button after pushing the end of the stalk )

All of the computet stuff is working fine, except the the mileometer keeps resetting itself back to zero, so you do not know how many miles you have driven since you filled up. The computer is all working normally.

I have had it into Renault, and of course the first answer was "can't find a problem" then after a bit of pushing they checked the earth straps, said they'd sorted it etc etc. But no!!

Any ideas would be most appreciated as warranty expires in a month!

Aswell as the trip milometer there's also a function to show how many miles you have done since you filled up. Are you saying both these aren't working?

You are quite right, there is a second milo, this is fine as that is only reset with all the other computer functions. It is the primary mileometer that keeps resetting, so the mpg, miles left to fill up, gallons used etc on the computer are all working fine.

Weird... I'd just get back onto the dealer or Renault UK if necessary until they fix it.

yep make the dealer fix it, and pronto before the warranty expires.

It is booked back in for next week....

An update for you Griff, it is not just the milo that is resetting, it is the whole computer as well!!!

Thanks for making me look.

Any ideas to say to dealer? otherwise it will just go in and out until they think I will get bored!!

Quite unusal though
