Reverse Gear Extremely Hard to Select

  2002 Clio 1.5 DCi
Hey guys,

past few months I've noticed reverse gear not going in for me but recently it's that bad I have to think very far ahead incase i case traffic jam as it barely goes in to gear lately

have had a look under car and can't see anything and if I'm honest I don't know what I'm looking for!

When it does go in its hard/stiff to select, you can feel when the car is not going to go in to gear when driving through forward gears as they get more stiff to select if that makes sense?

I don't think its a clutch issue as i can select other gears, it's getting to the point where I am loosing the patience and don't want to break something having to force the gear stick

any advise would be greatly appreciated

thanks

Checked gear oil level? Selector shaft can be adjusted to get all the gear gates nice but it's tricky to do being as the gap is only a few mm either way to get gears

No I've never dealt with gear boxes before so don't know where to start?

When I think about it, it most likely all started when I bought the car way back in March during the bad snow!

i got the selector rod jammed a few times, I assume with the snow packing up under the car since it was so deep, and had to pull over and continually jiggle the gear stick to loosen the snow from it

Yeah probs just needs re adjusting

jack it up onto stands, get someone to hold it in center neutral , slack the bolt/nut off and move the gearstick rod to the left slightly.
tighten up and try again.

make sure you mark the original position before doing anything so you have a fail safe
