Sat nav question

Has anyone used there sat nav abroad? I switched mine on and went to map of france but it says no satalites in the area. Am i right in thinking i have to be in that country for it to work?

What unit you got? They will work anywhere, just won't be able to navigate to many places until u have the detailed mapping.

they work anywhere mate the sat's are not above countries there above the earth a full constalation of 24
