sensor in bellhousing

found a sensor at the back of the engine in the bellhousing, next to the exchaust manifold, does anyone know what it is as its partically melted, cheers.

if its right on top of the bellhousing its the TDC sendsor!

Im assuming youve got a 172 ph1, as it sounds liek the speedo sensor
