I dont think youd really want one of these for the road. A few of us tried the Clio Cup racers earlier in the year - the gearbox was great - on a track. Can you imagine burbling around town and only being able to change up at full throttle though??

change up at full throttle? what do you mean by that? sorry

hhm i was thinkin about doin a customized ratio you know easier for the road use an occasional track thrashing

It all depends on cash, if you have plenty, change the box and only use the clio on the track and for road rallies. It will be useless (hard to drive) anywhere else...

Then get another one to use on the road. Jobs a good un!

The gearbox doesnt work unless youre absolutely thrashing the nuts off the car. Try changing up at low or mid revs and youll just get a box full of neutrals. It really would be undriveable on the road. If you really want one then just buy a Cup Racer from Renault and keep it for the track!

So from what I gather is a sequential box is a "no-do" for daily n odd track day driving....... any chance there is a sequential box for much softer drivin rather than ringing the neck of the engine out every time?

bugger i was so lookin forward to installin one n run around the street like a mad man haha. Capt.. can you tell me why the gear box would get heaps of Neutral when not driven hard?

Demon Tweeks (motorport) have a sequential box of tricks which gives you buttons on the steering wheel, and you can still use the stick, £600 i think. Theres an option for full throttle shift and an indication of what gear youre in too. You save a few hundred quid if you buy the lot as a package, I didnt think it was too badly priced for what you get.

Cant imagine how that would work - it would take a load of (e.g.) hydraulic pressure to change gear. Might be better off getting a quickshift - K-Tek do a very nice one.

thanks coolsport007 about the Demon Tweeks (motorport) have a sequential box of tricks but i couldnt find it on their page mind giving me a link? they only have short shift n a sequential light but i couldnt find those buttons on the wheel thing

The Sadev box can be used for day to day driving by disarming the ignition cut switch which operates as soon as the gearlever is moved as you are changing gear. We have this optionon our Renault 5 demo car and it works very on the road. But you cant beat the thrill of changing gear at full throttle without using the clutch.

wow sounds awesome... where abouts can i further investigate this system? Oh yeh for road usage how many miles can they last before servicing?
