Serious lagging problem.

But i dont have a turbo, just std engine wise.

I know from cold my car is really suffering to get any speed on but i understand this.
Its when i have been driving a good ten mins and i go to put my foot down it chugs abit and plods on, even when going up slight hills i can be driving fine at 30mph in 3rd or 4th gear on a flat'ish road approaching a hill ill move in to 3rd keeping at 30 but half way up the hill im having to try 2nd and 1st gear just to get to the top.

O2 sensors have been changed, exhaust has been checked an no lights are on the dash. I use 97 ron fuel most of the time.
Occasionally it will get a burst of freedom and want to go full pelt.
Im sure its f'ing female.

Any ideas you lot?
