Service light on, on its own

  Mini Cooper S sport
Any ideas what this could mean? The book says see a Renault dealer immediately! Not much chance of that on a Sunday.

No other warning lights are on, and the SERV light just doesn't go out.

I'll check the oil in a minute, if it's low, it's 5w 40 isn't it, any advice on exact brand?

Could be anything tbh....

If it hasnt lit up with anything else such as airbag, oil light etc i doubt it is anything to do with them.

Only way to be certain is to get it run over a Renault Clip machine, as the standard fault readers wont find anything usefull from just the serv light.

Check as many things as you can tho to be safe :)

AA / RAC dont have Clip machines, they are just standard diagnostic code readers.

You Engine Managment light was on meaning a code has been stored.

The Serv light is mainly a Renault Specific light. You maybe lucky on the off chance that a code has been stored but a Clip machine will be the one to give detail.

Id save the AA/RAC call out and get this checked on a Clip machine or independant garage.

Car runnign normally? Tried the battery off trick for a while?

Bizarrely it had gone out the next time I drove the car, and it's been fine since. It had been sat outside all night in horrendous weather, maybe that made it unhappy, I don't know!

Cars are weird :S
