Service light

Hi. My service light came on just now when I was driving home, I thought itwasn't due for a while but then I read that it's not actually to tell you it's dude a service.
What then is it for? a random warning light?
I checked the oil this morning and its about half way between the marks so it cant be that. Also there are no other warning lights on. Well, except the fuel light.

Should i be worried, and how do i get it to go?

I went out earlyer and the light was off, i think a plastic botte under the seat may have knocked the wires.

the serv light has nothing to do with servicing the car, its related to an electronical fault, normally the wires under the passenger seat cause it
