Shot in RAW file help!

I set my camera to shoot in RAW mode the other day.

Ive just stuck the memory card into the pc, tried opening up the files in photoshop but its saying they are the wrong file type.

Anyone help me here? How can i open up the pics to view them and play around with them?

download the latest version of photoshop.
http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/nikonraw.html

or use the Nikon software that came with your camera to export the image as JPEG.

I assume your using .nef's

if you have CS3 extended edition then you can open them and adjust them in Bridge using the same RAW file editor as photoshop but leaving photoshop free to run other function.
