Shot in the dark !!!

Are there any basic things I can sort on my ABS myself as my warning light is on constantly, are there any common faults ? Would like to try and sort it myself before going to Quick Sh1t !

probably the sensor behind the disk, some times if you give em a clean theyll work again.......unless theyre fooked.

Ok cheers mate, clean it with what, just break cleaner or soapy water ??? Is it expensive if theyre knackered ??
